06.05.2002 - Budget for the cluster was approved.
14.05.2002 - The first Compaq server arrived.
18.05.2002 - The RedHat 7.3 Linux system was installed on the first server.
20.06.2002 - The next three Compaq servers arrived.
01.07.2002 - The first server is under test load (WWW, quantum chemistry, XANES).
19.07.2002 - The last Compaq server arrived. Beginning of cluster installation.
20.09.2002 - All five servers (LASC1-LASC5) are running.

28.03.2003 - The HOME directory is moved to new 120GB hard disk.
07.05.2003 - LASC is rated in the ClustersTOP 500 list at the 184 place !
19.09.2003 - Financial support from the University of Latvia was given for the new front-end node.
25.11.2003 - Financial support from the ISSP was provided for Gigabit network upgrade.

09.01.2004 - LASC was upgraded with new hard disks, new front-end node and Gigabit network.

24.08.2005 - LASC was upgraded with a rack and two 1U SuperMicro servers. (Thanks go to LU and ISSP for financial support !)

02.02.2006 - LASC was upgraded with the second rack and four 1U SuperMicro servers. (Thanks go to ISSP for financial support !)

11.01.2007 - LASC was upgraded with five 1U SuperMicro servers and two new Gigabit switches. (Thanks go to LU and ISSP for financial support !)

20.04.2007 - HOME directory and WORK directories on LASC1-LASC5 were upgraded with new hard disks. (Thanks go to ISSP for financial support !)

03.05.2007 - LASC was upgraded with three 1U SuperMicro servers. (Thanks go to ISSP for financial support !)

11.09.2007 - LASC was upgraded with two 1U SuperMicro servers. (Thanks go to LU and ISSP for financial support !)

14.01.2008 - LASC was upgraded with six 2xQuadCoreCPU 1U SuperMicro servers. (Thanks go to LU and ISSP for financial support !)

08.07.2009 - LASC was upgraded with two 2xQuadCoreCPU 1U SuperMicro servers and a new file server (VECTOR). The local network was split into two subnets. (Thanks go to ISSP for financial support !)

26.01.2010 - LASC was upgraded with the IBM BladeCenter E Type 8677 server. (Thanks go to ISSP for financial support !)

06.10.2011 - LASC was upgraded with four nodes based on the single Intel Sandy Bridge CPU and 120GB SSD hard disk. (Thanks go to ISSP for financial support !)

2012-2013 - LASC was upgraded with 15 nodes 2xSixCoreCPU 1U SuperMicro Servers. (Thanks go to ISSP for financial support !)


2015 - LASC was upgraded with 20 nodes 2xEightCoreCPU 1U Dell PowerEdge Servers. (Thanks go to the Ministry of Education and Science for financial support !)
